CARF Accreditation
Baroco Receives Top Accreditation by The Commission On Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)
As of December 2021, Baroco, once again, received the maximum 3 year accreditation from the "Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
The Arizona-based organization is considered the nation’s leading accreditation agency for rating human service agencies. Baroco was found, again, to be in complete compliance, by the CARF surveyors, with no deficiencies cited.
It is an honor to receive a 3 year accreditation, and we wish to thank our staff for their hard work and dedication in helping Baroco to achieve this extraordinary accomplishment.
Our Services
Baroco offers a comprehensive range of services tailored to address the diverse needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.
Communication Enhancement
Speech & Language pathologists are available for personal consultation towards the aim of targeted goal development in expressive & receptive language integration, use of augmentative technology, sign language and additional customized communication systems.
Personal Care
Individuals can expect dignified and private care for any personal needs. Additionally, our facilities are equipped with hoyer lifts, sara sit-to-stand lifts, and repositioning options. Specific personal care preferences may include consultation with our physical therapist.
Nursing
Each of our Massachusetts Day Habilitation Centers retains a Registered Nurse Health Care Supervisor and a Licensed Practical Nurse. Our Connecticut programs have medication certified staff under the supervision of a Registered Nurse consultant. Daily onsite nursing in Connecticut is offered at our South Windham location.
Physical/Occupational Therapy
We employ both Physical and Occupational Therapists who play an instrumental role in creating pragmatic skill-building within a wide array of functional goals. Ranging from ambulation objectives and range of motion activities to stretching, strengthening and fine motor development, this field of focus remains a foundation for further independence in a multitude of areas.
Self-Help Training
At Baroco we celebrate all opportunities for independence and to this end we encourage individuals to strengthen skills through self-advocacy meetings, annual review of health, safety and human rights as well as ad-hoc contributions to the running of the program.
Socialization Skills Development
Our team of Developmental Specialists & Instructors are trained to utilize recreational and leisure activities to create an environment in which natural relationships and teamwork can develop within the classroom. Educational themes, various interest groups (IE: cooking, gardening, etc.) and community integration (both outings and invited speakers/guests) as well as incidental learning opportunities throughout the day serve to provide enhanced social interactions and bolster confidence in group dynamics.
Behavior Management
With a focus on the use of positive behavioral support to manage personal challenges individuals may experience Baroco provides our staff with Physical/Psychological Management Training on an annual basis. PMT, developed by PMT Associates, Inc. focuses on building staff confidence in several areas of behavior management that include communication techniques, recognition of escalation, implementation of de-escalation strategies, real prevention, understanding of one’s own style and legal/ethical issues.
Technology
Baroco provides iPads that can be installed with educational applications and personalized programs. There is access to smart televisions and computers as needed for programmatic use. Individuals are encouraged to utilize adaptive equipment that may encompass a technological component to drive skill acquisition. Email can be accessed by individuals to remain in contact with family, friends and/or guardians.
